Holmes and Horwood set to miss Cobblers opener at Sileby
Both players underwent operations over the summer, and manager Chris Wilder said they won’t be risked at Fernie Fields.
Holmes, who had an Achilles op, is likely to be involved in next Tuesday’s second friendly at Worthing, while Horwood, who had a groin operation, may be out of action until the July 11 date with Burgess Hill.

“If he doesn’t play on Sunday, or doesn’t play a part, then he will do work on the pitch before and will be involved on Tuesday.
“Evan also had a minor operation on a groin problem, and he is one who is a little bit behind.
“He possibly won’t be involved on Sunday or Tuesday, but he is coming down to Brighton with us.

Sunday’s game will be the first chance the Cobblers supporters will get to see the club’s six new signings.
Nicky Adams, Alfie Potter, Dave Buchanan, Josh Lelan, Adam Smith and Ryan Clarke should all be involved against the UCL Premier Division side.
