Ceremony in Northamptonshire sees Eddie Stobart truck named after murdered soldier Lee Rigby
The 15-ton HGV was officially named by Lee’s dad Phil McClure, who is a trucker with the firm.
He said Fusilier Rigby, aged 25, had applied to be a driver there when he eventually left the army, before he was killed by Islamic extremists in London in 2013.

Hide AdMr McClure, Lee’s wife, Rebecca, four-year-old son Jack, and representatives from Help for Heroes took part in a ceremony at the firm’s museum in Crick, last week, where the vehicle can be seen. The only other Eddie Stobart truck to be named after a man is ‘Valentino’ after motorbike racing legend Valentino Rossi.
Another was named after Optimus Prime, a fictional character in the cartoon series and films ’Transformers’. However, although it is always voiced by a man, the character is a robot so presumably gender-less.
William Stobart, the chief executive, said: “We are proud to honour Lee’s memory.”
