A new Covid-19 testing centre is being built in a more permanent location in Northampton, public health bosses have confirmed.
The current testing centre in Market Square in the town centre, which has caused issues for some businesses, will be disassembled and replaced by a facility in a different location.

Hide AdBuilding has started this week on a more permanent, walk-in testing centre in a car park on the Waterside campus of the University of Northampton, off Bedford Road.
Pilot appointments will have to be completed before the public can book a test, so the opening date for the centre has not yet been confirmed.
A spokeswoman for Public Health Northamptonshire said: “Access to Covid-19 testing is a vital part of county-wide efforts to control the spread of coronavirus so we’re delighted that the build has started this week on the new Covid-19 Northampton Walk in Testing Centre on Car Park Two at the Waterside Campus, University of Northampton.
“The arrangement for Market Square was only ever intended to be a temporary measure so we are pleased to have found a location which is both accessible from public car parks and also for those who live nearby to walk to.

“As is usual when opening at a new location, there will be pilot testing before appointments are available on the system.
“We will know more as the build progresses this week.”
